It seems to hurt more when those who hide processed free glutamic acid (MSG) sell their products in "health food" stores. Hain has been doing it for years. Newman's Own claimed that one of its salad dressings contained no added MSG, but they changed its label after (months after) their error was brought to their attention.
Then there's Rapunzel, using the processed free glutamic acid (MSG) in yeast extract to boost the flavor of its vegan bouillon and broth products while advertising "NO MSG ADDED, NO HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEINS, NO PRESERVATIVES" on its sales literature.
According to their literature, Rapunzel was founded in Germany in 1974 by three friends with the vision to promote healthy living and sustainable agriculture by growing, manufacturing, and distributing premium quality, delicious and pure organic foods. Today, Rapunzel is Europe's leading manufacturer and distributor of organic goods, producing over 400 products and working with thousands of organic farmers in more than 35 countries, from Austria to Zambia.
The Truth in Labeling Campaign received a
letter
from Rapunzel some time ago, protesting our statement that their
product
contained MSG. But when asked, they failed to produce an analysis of
their
product demonstrating that it contained no MSG. We have heard nothing
from
Rapunzel since.

IF MSG ISN'T HARMFUL, WHY IS IT HIDDEN?
