PROPAGANDA PROGRAMS ARE INCREASING.  IS THE GLUTAMATE INDUSTRY FEARFUL THAT AMERICANS ARE BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THE TRUTH ABOUT THE TOXIC EFFECTS OF MSG?

We have long been fascinated by  people who come out of the woodwork to declare that MSG is "safe."  The late Julia Child comes to mind immediately.  In her last years, the French chef who  never seemed to have mentioned "monosodium glutamate" in any of her recipes, was heard, in an interview, applauding its use. Recently, we came upon the Web page of a medical celebrity who responded to the question "Is it harmful or not?" saying, "Probably not."

Did our celebrity actually write the article we saw?  Did our celebrity even approve it? Did our celebrity even see it?  Was it put up behind our celebrity's back?  We called this celebrity, were assured by staff that they would look into our concern; but we have heard from them. The article reads like something right out of the propaganda files of the glutamate industry.  Take a look at our comments.

Warning! "Artificial Flavor" and "Artificial Flavoring" may soon win a place on the list of ingredients that can cause adverse reactions in MSG-sensitive people

INSIDE THE GLUTAMATE INDUSTRY: a look at one way that food, drug, dietary supplement, and cosmetic companies are encouraged to tell people that they couldn't possibly have had MSG-reactions from their MSG-containing products; and are also encouraged to mislabel products by stating "No MSG" or "No added MSG" when, in fact, their products contain MSG.

FROM THE DRUG INDUSTRY: experimental drugs called "glutamate blockers" are being investigated because they block the actions of glutamic acid (glutamate), an amino acid that they say is a particularly potent nerve cell killer.  (Funny, isn't it, that the drug industry is spending millions of dollars to develop "glutamate blockers" while the food industry is pouring ever increasing amounts of MSG, i.e., manufactured glutamate, into our food.)

DEATH BY MSG has been documented.

FROM THE MEDICAL FIELD: The Source for Women, a newsletter from Northwestern University Memorial Hospital, has acknowledged that MSG can cause a variety of adverse reactions (December, 2006, page 3). They have even gone on to list some of the ingredients in which MSG is hidden.

If you haven't already done so, you might want to catch the 700 Club TV series on processed free glutamic acid (MSG).

THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

"Just a little bit can't hurt you?"  Not necessarily so, says Janet Raloff in a Science News article dated January 20, 2007, titled "Counterintuitive Toxicity."  Main stream medicine is beginning to realize that extremely low doses of toxic chemicals can sometimes be disproportionately adverse (toxic) or sometimes beneficial.

On January 8, 2007, the California Department of Pesticide Regulation published a NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISIONS to approve additional spraying of MSG on crops.  Based on CDPR history, we took that to be tantamount to approval.  Imagine our surprise when we read that the approval had been denied.

Dr. Russell Blaylock, in a September 27, 2006 interview with News Target.com, tells us that excitotoxins have been found to dramatically promote cancer growth and metastasis.  (The glutamic acid in every MSG-containing ingredient is an excitotoxin.)  Blaylock also elaborates on the role that MSG can play in sudden cardiac death.

The food industry, with the aid of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, continues its assault on the National Organic Program.

In the last Congress (2006), the food industry  proposed what they called the National Uniformity for Food Act (House Bill H R 4167 and Senate Bill S 3128).  Passage of this legislation would have guaranteed uniformly greater profits for the food industry and uniformly lower food standards and less meaningful food labeling information for us all.

There is a movement afoot to place federal control over virtually all grassroots lobbying activity -- severely limiting the common people's ability to speak out.

The US Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (Title II of Public Law 108-282) makes no provision for identification of MSG(Reprint)

Manufacturers of processed foods continue to hide MSG using "Clean labels."

Senomyx could be the ultimate hiding place for MSG.  Read what their PR people say

A drug that blocks the effects of MSG is being used to treat Alzheimer's disease, yet the unsuspecting continue to eat MSG daily in food.

Since 1969, researchers have known that MSG causes gross obesity.  (MSG kills brain cells in the hypothalamus in the very young, which can disrupt the endocrine system, causing reproductive disorders and issues of weight control as affected children mature.) Dr. Russell Blaylock tells us that early exposure to excitotoxins (as found in MSG and aspartame) produces gross obesity and insulin resistant diabetes, just as we are seeing in our youth.  Jack Samuels tells us that although there are a number of causes for obesity, there is no question in his mind that the main cause for the obesity epidemic is the ever increasing use of MSG and aspartame - free glutamic acid and free aspartic acid - in our food supply.

Russell Blaylock, M.D., has been warning about the hazards of ingesting MSG and aspartame for years.  In his book, Excitotoxins: The Taste that Kills, Blaylock presents data documenting the hazards of free glutamic acid and free aspartic acid.  In Aspartame and Multiple Sclerosis - A Neurosurgeon's Warning, Blaylock tells us that Aspartame may play a role in Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  In addition to his warnings about use of neurotoxins, Blaylock has looked seriously at questions of good nutrition, has spoken widely, has published a number of books, and, in 2006, made a DVD of his lecture, "Nutrition and Behavior" which is available for purchase.

We've been asked to add bladder pain (with frequency) to adverse reactions to MSG.

LITTLE THINGS YOU CAN DO

Tell your legislators you would like processed free glutamic acid (MSG) identified on food labels.

Help us fight efforts to place federal control over virtually all grassroots lobbying activity.

If you find a label that claims "No MSG,"  "No MSG added," or "No added MSG," please share it with us.

IF MSG ISN'T HARMFUL, WHY IS IT HIDDEN?
