You many have noticed increased activity from the International Food Information Council (IFIC).  They have the ear of industry, clout with government officials, and a name that doesn't give away the fact that they have been paid handsomely over the years to promote a number of questionable substances -- including caffeine, BST, sugars, Colors, MSG, and aspartame.  We first made their acquaintance in 1991 when the "Communications Plan" they prepared for the glutamate industry, which detailed the steps they would take to kill the upcoming "60 Minutes" program on MSG, or how they would respond to it if they couldn't kill it, arrived anonymously in the mail.
